Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT)

Certain staff members are Certified Veterinary Technicians. To become a CVT requires graduation from an accredited 2 year program, a rigorous certification exam and consistent, mandatory continuing education. CVTs help maintain our high standard of veterinary medicine.

Hilda, CVT
Hilda is a Certified Veterinary Technician with a degree from Newbury College in 1984. Before joining PVC in 2008, she had worked in the emergency and critical care field for 10 years. Hilda is a member of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association and both the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Veterinary Technicians Association.

Kris, CVT
Kris has been at Portsmouth Veterinary Clinic since 1995 and is a Certified Veterinary Technician. Kris attended the Mount Ida College veterinary technician program when she first started at PVC. She is a member of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association and both the Rhode Island Veterinary Technicians Association. She received the prestigious award for the Rhode Island Veterinary Technician of the Year 2015. Kris’ special interests include dentistry and helping with special needs pets.

Rachel, CVT
Rachel graduated from Becker College 2013. She loves to go horseback riding and even competed competitively in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association in college. She has quite a few pets, including two dogs, Ruby and Paisley, one cat, Fonzy, two guinea pigs, Clara and Merida, and Neville Fluffbottom, her hamster.
